The Hidden Toxins in Your “Healthy” Pantry – Part 2
(Oatmeal, Seed Oils, White Rice, Antioxidants… and Why Even Carnivore Can Get You “Stuck” If You’re Not Careful)
Hey family, it’s your Uncle Carlos from Heal and Rise Solutions.
If you read Part 1 after Mary Ruddick’s conversation with Sally K. Norton, you already let go of the spinach smoothies, almonds, and sweet potatoes that were quietly acting like glass shards in your body.
Now Mary is back — this time with Rina Ahluwalia — and she’s coming for the foods we still defend like family heirlooms: oatmeal, seed oils, white rice, and the entire antioxidant religion.
Buckle up. This one hurts… but in the best way.
The Breakfast That Tanks Your Hormones (And Was Never Meant for Humans)
Mary didn’t mince words:
“Oatmeal is the worst. Well… potatoes are still the worst. But oatmeal? In history it was horse food and punishment for Roman slaves. When it was heavily marketed in the early 1900s, religious groups pushed it because it reliably lowered libido and suppressed sexual appetite.”
Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride (GAPS creator) and Dr. Catherine Shanahan (Deep Nutrition) say the exact same thing — oats are packed with anti-nutrients and feed opportunistic gut bacteria that crowd out the good ones.
I still had a bag of “heart-healthy” steel-cut oats in my pantry from years ago. After this episode? Gone.
The New Public Enemies Named
Here’s what was exposed (backed by the experts we love):
Seed oils → Mary and Dr. Eric Berg now call them the single worst modern food. Dr. Jack Kruse, Dr. Cate Shanahan, and Paul Saladino all agree: PUFAs (polyunsaturated fats) destroy mitochondrial function and cell membranes for up to 2–4 years after you stop consuming them (human adipose tissue turnover studies, Uppsala University, 2019). They oxidize instantly, drive chronic inflammation, and block proper light signaling in cells.
White rice → thiamine (B1) antagonist. Historical beriberi epidemics in Asia (Harvard & Kyoto University studies) happened when polished white rice replaced B1-rich foods like pork. Modern version? Small-fiber neuropathy, dysautonomia, and dementia risk — exactly what Gary Brecka and Dr. Alexis Cowan see in clients with “mystery” nerve pain.
Antioxidant overload → the entire “eat the rainbow for antioxidants” story was based on weak observational data. Dr. Jack Kruse and Dr. Alexis Cowan explain it clearly: exogenous antioxidants down-regulate your own internal antioxidant systems (GSH, SOD, catalase) and can feed cancer cells by neutralizing ROS the immune system uses as signaling (Stanford & MD Anderson research).
Oatmeal, corn, beans, raw nuts, turmeric → sky-high lectins and phytic acid. Dr. Bruce Hoffman and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride see these as major drivers of leaky gut and autoimmunity when not traditionally processed (soaked, sprouted, fermented — something we almost never do).
The Fiber Trap That Leaves People “Stuck” on Carnivore
This was the biggest new revelation for me.
Mary explained: Zero-fiber carnivore heals fast… but if you stay there too long without your birth microbes, you starve the mucin producers. Mucin layer collapses → opportunistic “pseudo-pathogens” (chronic strep, klebsiella, pseudomonas) move in and eat your gut lining.
Result? You feel amazing on ribeyes and salt… but the second you try a carrot, histamine hell.
Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride sees the same pattern in GAPS patients — prolonged zero-fiber can make reintroduction impossible without targeted microbial support.
The Joyful, Ancestral Medicine That Actually Works
Mary’s fixes are pure light and love:
128 Hz humming / tuning fork → boosts nitric oxide even without the right microbes (perfect for bed-bound folks).
Dancing → highest HRV boost she’s ever measured. Side-to-side movement + eye contact + touch + laughter + gamma brain waves = fastest nervous-system reset (Andrew Huberman’s lab has shown similar benefits from social dance on dopamine and neuroplasticity).
Posture = instant hormone shift → slouch kills serotonin; tall spine brings calm confidence (Huberman & Dr. Jack Kruse both teach this).
Natural fibers only → silk is Mary’s favorite (antimicrobial, temperature-regulating). Polyester destroys regional skin microbiomes and deregulates sex hormones (emerging research from Copenhagen University on microplastics & endocrine disruption).
Animal fats + meat first, then tiny ancestral fibers when ready (ground shrimp shells, bone marrow, a whisper of the right prebiotic).
Gentle Steps to Break Free (Start Here Today)
No shame, no rush. Here’s the loving path forward:
Ditch seed oils this week → cook only in tallow, butter, ghee, or lard.
Replace oatmeal/rice breakfasts → eggs in butter + maybe a little fruit if tolerated.
Add one 128 Hz hum or dance song daily (I’m doing both — ridiculous at first, life-changing by day 3).
Swap one piece of clothing to natural fiber (start with underwear or sheets — sleep improves instantly).
If you’re “stuck” on carnivore and everything reacts — know you’re not broken. Your mucin layer just needs gentle rebuilding.
Family, We Were Never Lazy or Broken — We Were Just Fed Lies Disguised as Virtue
That missing libido, stubborn weight, morning dread, or inability to eat a single vegetable without suffering?
It might be the “heart-healthy” oats. It might be the seed oils you used for decades. It might be the polyester sheets you slept in.
Your body still remembers how to feel strong, calm, courageous, and resilient. It’s waiting for you to stop feeding the lies… and start feeding joy.
One loving swap at a time. We rise together.
